甲烷化器选件使火焰离子化检测器能够检测低浓度的CO和CO 2。它作为可拆卸喷嘴安装在专用FID检测器组件中。甲烷化器内填充有镍催化剂粉末。分析过程中，甲烷化器与FID检测器本体一起加热至380 o C。当色谱柱流出物与FID氢气混合并流经甲烷化器时，CO和CO 2会转化为甲烷。
由于CO和CO 2在样品通过色谱柱后转化为甲烷，因此它们的保留时间保持不变。碳氢化合物通过甲烷塔时不受影响。
特殊的 Methanizer FID 检测器组件的操作与常规 Buck FID 检测器相同，只是 FID 温度必须设置为 380 ° C。由于镍和硫之间的化学关系，Methanizer 可能会被大量含硫气体毒害。
Methanizer 附件有三种配置：
