根据运行条件，提供 100 至 1000 小时的服务。
氮磷检测器对氮磷化合物的响应强度比对普通碳氢化合物的响应强度高出约10万倍。由于其高选择性，氮磷检测器常用于检测杀虫剂、除草剂和滥用药物。
NPD 的设计与 FID 类似，不同之处在于氢气流速降低至约 3 毫升/分钟，并在孔口附近放置了一个电加热热电子珠（NPD 珠）。从色谱柱出来的含氮或磷分子与热电子珠碰撞，发生催化表面化学反应。产生的离子被吸引到收集电极，并被放大并输出到数据系统。
该色谱图显示了对 10ppm 马拉硫磷样品的 NPD 响应。
