Our Demountable Cell Holder (seen above) is ideal for use when analyzing liquids, mulls and capillary films.  The cell holder requires two windows, one drilled and one regular.

1.This Drilled ZnSe (Zinc Selenide) 38x19x4mm Cell Window is Insoluble in water. Slightly soluble in acids. High resistance to chemical attack. Organic solvents, dilute acids and bases have no effect. Ideal for ATR work because of its low absorption in the infrared region.

The working wavelength range of ZnSe is 15,000 - 508 cm-1.

KBr has a working wavelength range of 48,800 - 388 cm-1

4.This KBr (Potassium Bromide) 38x19x4mm Rectangular cell window is soluble in water and alcohol. Slightly soluble in ether. Fairly good resistance to thermal & mechanical shock. Hygroscopic.

5.This KRS-5 (Thallium Bromoiodide) 38x19x4mm Cell Window is slightly soluble in water; soluble in bases, not in acids. Good transmission range, ideal for ATR work. Not hygroscopic. Soft - will deform. Highly toxic.

The working wavelength for KRS-5 Thallium Bromoiodide is 17,900 - 232 cm-1

6.This NaCl (Sodium Chloride) 38x19x4mm Rectangular cell window is soluble in water, and glycerine, and slightly soluble in alcohol. Fairly resistant to thermal and mechanical shock.  

The working wavelength range is 52,600 - 584 cm-1

7.This BaF2 38x19x4mm cell window is insoluble in water but soluble in acids. Barium Fluoride has a wider spectral range but is more sensitive to mechanical and thermal shock but is a relatively hard material. The working wavelength range for BaF2 is 66,600 - 782 cm-1.
