32x3mm IR Windows/ Circular/

Our Circular Demountable Cell Holder  is ideal for use when analyzing liquids because these cells are leak-proof and provide an even pressure.  This cell requires two 32x3mm windows, one drilled, and one regular.

1.This KBr (Potassium Bromide) 32x3mm Cell Window is soluble in water, alcohol, & slightly soluble in ether.

KBr has fairly good resistance to thermal & mechanical shock, but is hygroscopic.

The working wavelength range for KBr is 48,800 - 388 cm-1.

2.This BaF2 (Barium Fluoride) 32x3mm disc is insoluble in water but soluble in acids. Barium Fluoride has a wider spectral range but is more sensitive to mechanical and thermal shock but is a relatively hard material.

The working wavelength range for BaF2 is 66,600 - 782 cm-1.

3.This drilled ZnSe (Zinc Selenide) 32x3mm Cell Window is insoluble in water, and slightly soluble in acids.

Zinc Selenide has a high resistance to chemical attack, and organic solvents, dilute acids and bases have no effect. ZnSe is ideal for ATR work because of its low absorption in the infrared region.

The working wavelength range for ZnSe is 15,000 - 508 cm-1.

4.This NaCl (Sodium Chloride) 32x3mm cell window is soluble in water and glycerin, and is slightly soluble in alcohol.

NaCl is fairly resistant to thermal and mechanical shock and has a working wavelength range of 52,600 - 584 cm-1.

5.This drilled KBr (Potassium Bromide) 32x3mm Cell Window is soluble in water, alcohol, and is slightly soluble in ether.

Potassium Bromide has fairly good resistance to thermal & mechanical shock, but is hygroscopic.

The working wavelength range for KBr is 48,800 - 388 cm-1.

6.This KRS-5 (Thallium Bromide) 32x3mm cell window is slightly soluble in water; soluble in bases, not in acids.

Thallium Bromide has good transmission range, and is ideal for ATR work. KRS-5 is not hygroscopic, but is soft and will deform.

KRS-5 is highly toxic, and has a working wavelength range of 17,900 - 232 cm-1.)
